The video this week is dedicated to a great actor, a director of silent films: Buster Keaton . It is often omitted in the list of the greatest, but it deserves all our admiration and in my opinion with Chaplin is one of the giants of silent film. Unforgettable then his interpretation with Chaplin in "Limelight"

His cinema was even more of a perfect mechanism to Chaplin , with continuous reversals of meaning, a continuous operation of logic: the objects change meaning, simple actions become complex and the impossible become easy, that seems harmless diventa un pericolo e le avversità si rivelano aiuti impensati.
Nei suoi film il mondo reale diventa astratto, surreale, tutto ciò che è sbagliato è anche giusto e viceversa. Per esempio ne Il maniscalco ( 1922 ) un' inquadratura da lontano sembra mostrarlo intento a lavorare al fuoco, mentre invece si sta cuocendo due uova al tegamino; in One Week una casa prefabbricata loose it becomes a carousel that rotates on itself, but in the end the people down thanks for the ride. His film, being based on visual games, did not survive the newness of the sound.
