The Industry was formed in New York in the early '80s. I am a "studio band" devoted to producing synth-pop songs, composed by Jon Carin (synthesizer / keyboards / vocals), Mercury Caronia (synthesizer / percussion), Rudy Perrone (guitar / bass / vocals, former member of the hard-prog band "Cathedral") and Brian Madden (guitars / vocals). Between 1983 and 1984 their single State Of The Nation routs the charts all over the world, especially in Asia. The sound is haunting, the lyrics offer a reading in key anti-militarist. In 1984 released their only album, entitled Stranger To Stranger which also includes the second single "Still of the Night. The rest of their career does not match the expectations of the group will perform as support band to great artists of the time, like Billy Idol, Talk Talk and INXS, and then everyone goes his own way. Jon Carin lends his work for some big music, including Pink Floyd and Bryan Ferry. Brian Madden in 1995 he formed the group MaddenRae and is dedicated to folk.
